Gerakas beach is the southern beach of the island and for sure one of the most beautiful.
It consists of a long, stunning stretch of golden sand and is known for its exotic landscape and its warm and shallow waters. This beach is a protected area of the Zakynthos Marine Park because of the Caretta-Caretta turtles’ choice to go there to hatch. This loggerhead turtle is a protected species of sea turtle and that is why you will find only a few umbrellas and sunbeds there. The beach is therefore ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.
