The beach of Navagio or Shipwreck cove is the most famous beach of Zakynthos and it is known for its unique wild natural beauty that combines turquoise and crystalline waters with a rocky landscape and white sand. Gerakas beach is the southern beach of the island and for sure one of the most beautiful.
It consists of a long, stunning stretch of golden sand and is known for its exotic landscape and its warm and shallow waters. This beach is a protected area of the Zakynthos Marine Park because of the Caretta-Caretta turtles’ choice to go there to hatch. This loggerhead turtle is a protected species of sea turtle and that is why you will find only a few umbrellas and sunbeds there. The beach is therefore ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.
